Privacy & Confidentiality Policy
SLATE, the Midwest Blackboard Users Group, respects and values the privacy and the confidentiality of the information members and participants share with the group. We are committed to protecting this information and will do all we can to ensure your privacy when participating in SLATE activities.

Information We Collect

  • The registration process for most SLATE activities requires that participants provide personally identifiable information (name, email, phone number, at times postal address).  We collect registration and evaluation information that you voluntarily share with us.  Registration information is used primarily for the purpose of maintaining a record of an individual’s participation in a SLATE activity.
  • If a registration fee is charged and registrants have the option of paying online, we will ask for credit card information. These transactions are encrypted and are in full compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards.
  • Our web server automatically collects the IP (Internet Protocol) address of computers that access our site. An IP address is a number assigned to the computer that you use to access the internet. It is not considered personally identifiable information due to the fact that many different individuals can access the internet using the same computer. This information is collected in aggregate form to better understand how this site is being used and to make improvements

Use of Information

  • Personally identifiable information from a registration form is used to confirm participation and to announce future SLATE sponsored activities. As a result, you may receive periodic mailings (usually through email) from SLATE or other SLATE members with information on upcoming events. If you do not wish to receive such mailings, please contact us at the address listed below.
  • A participant evaluation may be offered at certain events and is also considered tangible evidence of participation in a SLATE activity and is used solely to assess the quality, integrity, and objectivity of the activity, and the relevance of the activity to the users’ needs.

Precautions against Unauthorized Access or Use of Information Collected

  • Except for authorized law enforcement investigations or other valid legal processes, personally identifiable information is not shared with outside individuals, organizations, or commercial supporters without the consent of any individual or participant at a sponsored activity.

Refund Policy
The general policy of SLATE is that there will be no refunds of registration fees or participant costs associated with any events.

Membership

  • Membership fees, if applicable, are not refundable.

Conference Registration

  • When a registration is submitted, SLATE immediately reserves a space for the participant at that event. At this point, SLATE incurs certain non-recoverable costs. Therefore, refunds cannot be given once the registration is processed. SLATE will allow participant substitutions as long as notification is given 48 hours before the start of the event.
  • Institutions paying on behalf of the participant(s) are responsible for all charges.
  • Refunds will not be issued to no-show registrants. If you do not attend the event, payment is still required unless a cancellation notice is given two weeks prior to the event date.
  • Refunds will not be issued on payments made for any sponsorship items.
