Southern Illinois University Edwardsville serves 13,000 students in a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees. We have seven academic divisions: the College of Arts and Sciences, and Schools of Business, Engineering, Education, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Dental Medicine.

In 2005, we converted to Blackboard from WebCT. We currently use Blackboard Learning System 6.3 and Content System 2.3 and plan to update to version 8 in the summer 2008. We do not use the Community System, but we are exploring the Outcomes System. More than 9,500 of our students use Blackboard on a regular basis in their classes. In a normal semester we have more than 800 courses using Blackboard. Most of these courses are web-enhanced or hybrid classes (Fall 2006 - 815 courses, Spring 2007 - 820 courses). We have about 40 online courses per semester, and anticipate that number growing in the future. In addition to these normal uses of Blackboard, there are many administrative "courses" that use Blackboard for search committees, personnel reviews, committee work, and other administrative uses.
