Roosevelt University is an urban, independent university committed to student success, academic quality, and social justice, with campuses in Chicago and Schaumburg, Illinois. Roosevelt University has been serving students in the Chicagoland area since 1945.

RU Online, Roosevelt University's distance education program, was launched in the fall of 2001. The program is the result of the vision of a faculty member and an associate dean of the Evelyn T, Stone College of Professional Studies, along with a generous grant from the Robert R. McCormick Tribune Foundation. Today, a Roosevelt University education is accessible to students as far as the Internet can reach. RU Online delivers fully online degrees and courses to students via Blackboard 7.2. Students can complete Master of Arts degrees in Training and Development and Educational Leadership, Bachelor of Professional Studies degrees in Organizational Leadership, Criminal Justice Leadership, and Psychology, and nine certificate programs completely online. Academic programs in Education, Hospitality Management, Business, Public Administration, Computer Science, and Paralegal Studies also offer courses through RU Online. In its first semester, RU Online launched 7 fully online courses. In the spring of 2008, the program will deliver over 60 fully online courses, support over 2500 web-enhanced course sites for on campus classes, and serve numerous university organizations utilizing online communities.
