"Valpo" belongs to a small and distinctive group of colleges and universities that consistently earns national recognition for the quality of its academic programs that integrate the best of the liberal arts with professional preparation, combining theory with practice. Our Lutheran heritage provides students freedom to connect their faith to life, our location in Valparaiso, IN., provides quick access to the beauty of the Indiana Dunes/Lake Michigan shore and the excitement of Chicago, and our size combines the diversity of a larger institution with the friendliness of a smaller one. The academic program is rigorous, but Valpo students are well prepared for the classroom challenges. Nearly 60 percent graduated within the top one-fifth of their high school class with approximately six percent ranking first or second in their class. Valpo students also are engaged outside the classroom, participating in numerous volunteer and service learning activities as well as a wide variety of campus organizations and recreational sports.
